Choosing an astrology app

How to judge an AI astrology app yourself.

We are not going to hand you a ranked list and ask you to trust it. Here are the checks, and the test we published before running it.

The best AI astrology app for you is the one whose calculation conventions you can find, whose answers survive a second session, whose data controls exist, and whose limits are written down.

  • Eight checks you can run yourself
  • An open, pre-registered test protocol
  • Written by a product in the category
  • No affiliate links, no sponsored slots

Every "best AI astrology app in India" list has the same problem: the writer sells one of the apps, or has no way to check the ones they are ranking. Vedikks makes the first kind of list, so this page does the only honest version available to us. It gives you eight checks you can run in an afternoon, on any product including this one, and points at an open test protocol we published before running it.

If you would rather have a ranking than a method, this page will disappoint you. That is deliberate. A ranking from a competitor is worth less than a check you ran yourself.

Check 1: can you find out how it calculates?

Ask any astrology app which ayanamsa it uses and whether Rahu is the mean node or the true node. These are not obscure details; they are the two settings that explain almost every disagreement between two charts for the same birth. A product that will not say cannot be checked on anything else.

Vedikks uses Lahiri and the mean node, in the Swiss Ephemeris library, and publishes three reference charts with expected values and runnable code. Hold every other product to the same standard, and hold us to it too.

Check 2: does it agree with a reference chart?

Take one synthetic birth: 15 June 1990, 05:45, Mumbai, UTC+05:30. Enter it everywhere. The Sun should land at the very end of Taurus, four arcminutes from Gemini. Products on a different ayanamsa will report Gemini, which is a convention difference rather than an error, and products that are quietly wrong will land somewhere else entirely.

That one case separates more products than any feature comparison. The expected values for it, and two other cases, are on the method page.

Check 3: does the answer survive a second session?

Ask a real question. Note the answer. Come back the next day in a fresh session and ask exactly the same thing. If the second answer contradicts the first, the product is generating fluent text rather than reading a chart, and no amount of interface polish fixes that.

This is the core measurement in our consistency benchmark, and it is the cheapest check on this page to run.

Check 4: does it show its working?

Ask a concrete question, "Is this a good year to change jobs?", and read the answer for references to your chart. A real reading names the house, the planet or the period it is drawing on. A generated one talks fluently about your career without pointing at anything you could check.

Vedikks is built to name the chart factor behind each answer; the interpretation pipeline describes what the model is given and what it is not asked to do.

Checks 5 to 8: the ones people skip

Can you see, correct, export or delete what it stores about you? What does it require before showing a chart, and what does it cost to reach a first substantive answer? Does it state anywhere that it is not medical, legal or financial advice? And does it use fear as a sales mechanism around Sade Sati, Mangal dosha or Kaal Sarp?

Vedikks scores imperfectly on the first of those, and says so: there is no in-app viewer for stored data yet, and the first profile cannot be removed from inside the app; erasure goes through support. The privacy policy sets out what is stored. Any comparison where the author's own product has no weaknesses is a brochure.

What about AstroSage, Astrotalk, Astroyogi and the rest?

They are the incumbents in this market, and a competitor's characterisation of them is not evidence. Rather than describe products we would be motivated to describe unfavourably, we published a protocol that names which of them we intend to test, on which cases, with which rubric, before running it, so the result cannot be reverse-engineered from the conclusion we wanted.

Round 1 has not been run yet and this page carries no scores for anyone. When it publishes, the raw per-question observations go up alongside the summary, and every product tested is invited to correct us. Read the protocol and judge the method before there is a result to argue with.

The checklist, in one table

Run these against any product, including Vedikks. The right-hand column is what a good answer looks like, not a claim about who provides it.

What this page does not claim

  • This page is written by a product in the category being judged. Weight it accordingly and run the checks yourself.
  • It contains no ranking, no scores and no claims about named competitors, because we have not run the test yet and would not be a neutral source if we had.
  • The reference chart is a declared convention. An app that differs because it uses the true node or a different ayanamsa is not wrong.
  • Nothing here measures whether a reading is good. That matters most and is the one thing a rubric cannot capture.

Quick answers

So which is the best AI astrology app in India?

We are not a neutral source for that, so this page gives you checks instead of a ranking. Run check 2 and check 4 on any three products and you will have a better answer than any list, including ours.

Why does Vedikks not just rank itself first?

Because we have not run the test yet, and a ranking published by a competitor before the evidence exists is marketing. When Round 1 runs, Vedikks goes wherever the raw scores put it.

Is AI astrology safe to use?

It can be a useful reflective tool if the product protects your data and is clear about its limits. It is not a substitute for medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice, and a product that blurs that line is the one to avoid.

Why focus on Vedic rather than Western apps?

Because most Indian astrology questions are Vedic by default. Western-tradition products can be excellent and are simply answering a different question; checks 3 to 8 still apply to them, checks 1 and 2 do not.

Start with check 2

Enter 15 June 1990, 05:45, Mumbai into Vedikks and compare the Sun against the published value. Then do it somewhere else.
